How to get to Ang Thong from Koh Samui
Ang Thong lies 28 km west of Koh Samui and there is no public ferry: you go on a day tour or a private boat. Here is how long each boat takes, where it leaves from and what it costs.

There is no public ferry
Mu Ko Ang Thong National Marine Park is a group of 42 islands, only two of them inhabited. The ferries that connect Koh Samui with Koh Phangan, Koh Tao and the mainland pass by but do not stop here, and there is no regular boat service to the park.
The way to visit is a day tour from Koh Samui, or a private boat. Every tour picks you up at your hotel on Koh Samui, takes you to the pier and brings you back in the evening.

- Private speedboatThe Pearl, a 38 ft speedboat for up to 15 guests, 8 hours any day. ฿39,000 for up to 6 guests.
When to go and what to bring
The park is usually closed every year from 1 November to 15 December to let nature recover. From January to September the sea is usually calm and the water clear. October and the second half of December are the rainy season: tours still run, but on rough days the captain can change the route or cancel the trip. Speedboats feel the waves more than the big boat or the Red Baron.
Bring swimwear, a towel, sunscreen, a hat and sunglasses, shoes with grip for the viewpoint stairs, cash for the park fee and a photo of your passport: operators ask for the number for the insurance.
