Where you paddle
Ang Thong is made for kayaks: calm water between the islands in the dry season, limestone cliffs dropping straight into the sea, small caves at the water line and beaches with no road to them. Each tour paddles in a different part of the park.
On the speedboat tour, kayaks wait on Tamarin Beach, where lunch is served. You paddle along the cliffs and small caves at your own pace, or simply stay on the sand.
On the VIP tour you kayak along the coast of Koh Sam Sao, the island with the natural stone arch, almost in the center of the park. It is the classic Ang Thong kayaking route.
On the big boat, the kayak option means you paddle to Mae Ko and along its coast before climbing to the Emerald Lake; without it, a longtail boat takes you ashore and you still see the lake.
Who can kayak
Kayaking is allowed from 5 years old; the park makes no exceptions for younger children. Life jackets are provided. No experience is needed for a calm-day paddle along the shore, and you can always choose to stay on the beach.
In the rainy season, from October to December, the sea can be rough and kayaking may be shortened or cancelled by the captain. From January to September the water is usually calm.
Bring a waterproof pouch for your phone, a hat and plenty of sunscreen: the sun on the water is strong. Wear swimwear you do not mind getting wet; you will.

Which Ang Thong tours include kayaking?
The speedboat tour (kayaks at Tamarin Beach) and the VIP speedboat tour (kayaking at Koh Sam Sao) include it. On the big boat it is an option for ฿400 more per adult. The Red Baron and private charters do not include kayaks.
How old do you have to be to kayak in Ang Thong?
At least 5 years old. The national park does not allow younger children in kayaks, without exceptions.
Is kayaking in Ang Thong difficult?
No. On a calm day you paddle along the shore at your own pace, and life jackets are provided. If you do not want to paddle, you can stay on the beach.

Can I kayak in the Emerald Lake?
